The U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council Regional Office for Europe, the Middle East and Africa is based in Tunis, Tunisia.
Established in December 1996 following its relocation from Vienna, the regional office plays a key role in working with government entities, feed grain importers, and feed millers to design and implement capacity-building and trade promotion programs. These efforts are supported by initiatives such as the Regional Feed Training Center in Tunisia, the African Poultry Training Center in Morocco, the aquaculture training program in Aydin, Turkey, and Food for Progress (FFP) Programs in East Africa.
In addition, the Council organizes regional Buyers & Sellers Conferences for grains and corn co-products, Ethanol Summits, U.S. trade missions, technical and policy conferences and workshops, and bilateral working groups to strengthen collaboration and expand market opportunities.
The EMEA region offers strong long-term growth potential for increased demand and market share for U.S. feed grains and U.S. bioproducts in this wide area. U.S. exports have steadily risen over the past 10 years, growing from 380 million bushels (corn equivalent) in 2013 to more than 645 million bushels in 2025.
Europe, the Middle East, and Africa currently import about 585 million gallons of U.S. ethanol for both fuel and industrial uses. The Council is working to grow the value of U.S. ethanol exports into the region, particularly as countries accelerate efforts to meet their Paris Agreement commitments by 2030.
The U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council’s long history of engagement in the region will continue for years to come — seeking to explore short-term market opportunities and to continue building long-lasting and successful partnerships with industry, importers, livestock producers, government officials, and respected organizations through trade as a win-win relationship.
