Using Market Access Program (MAP) funds, the U.S. Grains Council’s Taiwan office has actively implemented a robust series of customer service initiatives throughout 2024. These programs have significantly reinforced the competitiveness and market share of U.S. corn and co-products in Taiwan by providing targeted technical support, sharing timely market intelligence, and facilitating international engagement for local stakeholders.
Differentiating U.S. Corn through Technical Engagement
To underscore the quality and reliability of U.S. corn, the Council co-hosted the “U.S. Corn Harvest Quality and Global Grain Supply Chain Challenges” symposium in partnership with the Taiwan Feed Industry Association. The event attracted 120 key industry leaders and offered in-depth insights into U.S. corn quality and logistical dynamics, enhancing buyers’ confidence in U.S. supply chain integrity.

Council Promotion and Technical Training Programming in 2024
Additionally, the Council held a symposium focused on U.S. corn product applications and sustainable development, drawing more than 60 industry participants. The program emphasized the strong performance of U.S. corn in animal feed and promoted the nutritional benefits of high-protein Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS) and Corn Fermented Protein (CFP) in pig production.
Supporting Swine and Poultry Industry Advancement
The Council’s third annual symposium on pig genetic improvement and ultrasonic technology focused on the integration of U.S. corn, CFP and the promotion of higher DDGS inclusion rates in swine diets. In collaboration with local industry groups, the Council also co-organized a forum titled “Poultry Production and Epidemic Prevention Strategies,” addressing biosecurity, disease prevention and farm management. These efforts helped improve production practices and deepened engagement within Taiwan’s livestock sectors.
Facilitating Global Exposure and Information Transparency
To strengthen international networks and business connections, the Council supported Taiwanese buyers and traders in attending major global events, including the 2024 U.S. Agricultural Cooperators Conference in Vietnam and Export Exchange 2024 in Texas. These events offered firsthand exposure to the U.S. grain value chain and highlighted the sustainability and quality of U.S. corn products.
Domestically, the Council ensured transparency and informed decision-making by translating and distributing detailed reports on U.S. corn harvest and export cargo quality. Furthermore, the Council provided regular market updates through a combination of seminars, workshops, publications and social media broadcasts. These efforts solidified the Council’s reputation as a trusted and credible partner in Taiwan’s grain industry.
Impressive Market Gains and ROI
Thanks to these comprehensive efforts, U.S. corn exports to Taiwan surged from 701,000 metric tons in MY 2022/23 to 1.732 million metric tons in MY 2023/24—an impressive increase of 1.031 million metric tons, valued at approximately $189 million. In 2024, the Council invested $131,000 of MAP funds into corn promotion activities in Taiwan. This investment generated a ROI of $1,443 for every $1 of MAP funds invested, demonstrating the effectiveness and impact of targeted market development programs.
The Council’s continued use of MAP funding has not only driven substantial growth in U.S. corn exports to Taiwan but has also strengthened bilateral trade relations, improved industry knowledge and positioned U.S. grains as a cornerstone of Taiwan’s feed and livestock industry.
