Arup Mitra serves as the deputy regional director for South Asia for the U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council, a non-profit organization that promotes the use of U.S. barley, corn, sorghum and related products worldwide.
In this capacity, Mitra is responsible for supporting the evaluation, planning, and implementation of the Council’s market development programs in India and the South Asia region.
Mitra joined the Council from Godavari Biorefineries, one of India’s largest producers of ethanol, and previously worked as a director at the U.S. Commercial Service in East India.
Mitra holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Jadavpur University and a master’s degree in business administration and marketing from the Indian Institute of Management.
