This week, three U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council (USGBC) staff based in its Washington, D.C. headquarters transitioned to new roles within the organization.
Emma Freebairn assumed the role of global ethanol programs manager, with a focus on activities in Europe, the United Kingdom and Asia. Freebairn initially joined the Council as industry relations intern in 2023 before accepting a permanent position as manager of industry relations administration.
“We are very excited to add Emma’s expertise in logistics and planning, her solid work ethic and positive attitude to our team,” said Alicia Koch, USGBC director of global ethanol export development.
Samantha Redfern took over the manager of global strategies and trade position where she will be responsible for the Council’s barley programming and provide support to the Council’s regional office for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Redfern joined the Council in 2024 as global ethanol program coordinator and later served as manager of global programs.
“I am looking forward to seeing Samantha work with the Council’s barley sector members and take ownership of the Council’s barley promotion portfolio,” said Kurt Shultz, USGBC senior director of global strategies.
Emily Schneider was promoted to manager of administration and technology, a newly created position that will help support the Council’s growing international staff. Schneider joined the Council in 2020 as its administrative assistant and receptionist and became industry relations coordinator in 2021.
“Words cannot express how excited I am to welcome Emily to the small but mighty administration and operations team,” said Helen Elmore, USGBC director of administration and operations.
“In each of her roles, Emily has brought a standard of consistent positivity, dependability and helpfulness wherever it is needed. We look forward to integrating Emily’s skills into the administration and IT framework needs of the organization.”
Please congratulate Emma, Samantha and Emily on the next chapters in their Council careers!
